Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Censorship has always played a critical role in the shaping of media content across the globe, particularly in industries such as film where the intersection of art and public sensibilities often creates tension. In Nigeria, the film industry is subjected to the scrutiny of both government authorities and regulatory bodies like the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB). The Nigerian film industry, including filmmakers in Suleja Local Government Area, Niger State, is constantly balancing between creative expression and adhering to the limits set by censorship laws.
